Borlotti beans look a lot like pinto beans but have a chestnut-like flavour and a more creamy texture. Cooking with Borlotti beans
As with all legumes, they are best soaked first in the fridge overnight before cooking. To cook add 1 cup of beans to 3 cups of water, bring to the boil then reduce to a simmer for about 1.5 hours. Borlotti beans make a great protein rich addition to salads, soups, casseroles and stir-fry’s. The taste great when cooked and blended with olive oil, garlic and your favourite herbs and spices to use as a spread or dip.
