Gluten Free Baking Powder
An aluminium free baking powder that is low allergy and suitable for gluten free baking.
Baking powder is traditionally used as a leavening agent that gives rise and expansion to doughs and batters. It is traditionally made up of three ingredients including baking soda (or bi-carb soda), cream of tartar and wheaten cornflour, however our gluten free baking powder uses white rice flour in place of the cornflour.
In the Kitchen:
With its neutralising properties, baking powder can be used in any recipe that you are looking to give rise to, including breads, cakes, muffins and biscuits.
Interesting Facts about Baking Powder:
Did you know how baking powder makes your cakes, pancakes and biscuits rise? The answer is that when it is added to the mixture before cooking it produces C02, and it is the C02 that creates the rise. Perfect chemistry in the kitchen.
Baking soda cannot be substituted for when a recipe calls for baking powder. Recipes asking for baking soda also require an acid like cream of tartare, whilst baking powder is used on its own.
