Organic Inca Berries (Wild Gooseberry)
Organic Inca berries are a delicious sweet and tart snack for between meals. They are indigenous to the tropical regions of South America but have recently become popular in many other countries including Australia. It is a small fruit with a glossy orange-yellow skin surrounded by papery leaves. On drying, it turns a distinctive bronze orange colour.
Nutritionally, Inca berries are very high in beneficial dietary fibre and cell-protecting antioxidants. They contain high amounts of vitamin C, have good levels of potassium and phosphorus and are naturally low in sodium.
Inca berries are ideal for adding to breads, cakes, muffins, biscuits, or slices. They make a delicious addition to puddings or fruit cake and can also be used in jams and sauces. We suggest mixing them with a handful of nuts or chocolate for a nutritious and wholesome snack for anytime of the day.
