Oat bran is derived from the outer husk or kernel of the oat grain and is mostly known for its creamy texture when cooked as a porridge. It differs from rolled oats and oatmeal in that those oat products come from the oat kernel, where as oat bran is solely comprised of the husk itself. Oat bran is a good source of protein and iron, and a very good source dietary fibre, thiamin, magnesium, phosphorus, manganese, zinc and selenium.
