Organic Tri-Coloured Quinoa
Organic Quinoa pronounced ‘keen-wa’ is a gluten-free grain that is rich protein, vitamin A, E & B2, and iron. Our organic tricolour quinoa (often referred to as Andean mix due to its origins) is a combination of all three popular varieties of quinoa; white, black and red.
Tri-coloured quinoa is a great base for making simple salads, as well as being a welcome addition to soups and casseroles, and complements well a delicious spicy curry. We recommend our ‘Andean Tabbouleh’ salad as a great staple salad for spring and summer.
Is there a difference between the 3 varieties?
White quinoa tends to cook up fluffier, while red quinoa and black quinoa have a crunchier texture and the grains don’t stick together as much.
Interesting Facts about Quinoa?
You often hear of quinoa as being related to the grain family, and certainly we cook and eat it in much the same way, BUT, botanically speaking, it is actually in the same family as spinach, beets and chard. Its just that the part we eat is the seed, but the leaves of the plant are also edible.

Our organic tri-coloured quinoa is an excellent source of protein, fibre and the minerals manganese, iron, zinc, phosphorous, magnesium and calcium. It also contains high levels of vitamins B2, B5, B6, and folate as well as the full range of amino acids. Being naturally gluten free it is more readily digestible in the body.
