Organic Cacao Powder
Cacao powder is the delicious product of the pressed un-roasted cacao beans. This process keeps the living enzymes in the cacao whilst removing the fat (cacao butter). Our organic cacao powder is of the highest quality and excellent for baking or making a delicious chocolate smoothie.
Please Note: No cacao powder is completely raw as the pressing process of the cacao bean always generates some amount heat, although this is the same cacao that is called raw by many in the industry.

Cacao trees are generally harvested twice a year even though they can flower and fruit all year round.
Hybrid cacao trees from the Upper Amazon are known to produce the most fruit from the earliest age.
What is the difference between Cacao and Cocoa?
Cocoa is the word that refers to the cacao once it has been heated. It is generally referring to the powdered form of the plant, and has been exposed to higher temperatures than cacao powder has.
Is Cacao Addictive:
Cacao contains a few substances that trigger a physiological addiction. The addictive nature comes largely from the alkaloids it contains, which are also responsible for the bitter flavour. Theobromine, a euphoriant, and to a lesser degree, caffeine, a stimulant also contribute to the addictive properties.
Cacao powder is a rich source of magnesium and iron as well as cell-protecting anti-oxidants. Cacao powder also contains good levels of the minerals phosphorus, potassium, manganese and copper.
