Savoury yeast flakes are specially grown and processed from primary yeast (saccharomyces cerevisiae). The yeast is roller drum dried, which deactivates the yeast and they become light yellow in colour. They are a popular vegan condiment known for its quality nutrition and are used to flavour foods, most commonly as a cheese substitute.
